The Macallan distillery deserves its highly regarded reputation. In 2018 a 60 year old Macallan whisky sold at auction for £848,000 making it the worlds most expensive bottle of whisky – perhaps you should get checking in the cupboards for your nan and grandads long forgotten whisky collection…
Originally Macallan whiskies were aged solely in Sherry casks imported from Jerez in southern Spain, now they also use Bourbon seasoned casks.
Macallan 12 Year old double cask has been aged in European and American sherry casks – no bourbon casks have been used in this release. Classic flavours of the Macallan flavour profile, warm spices and butterscotch predominate with a classic sweet and toasty finish. Lovely.
